Palestinians’ Attempt to Avoid Negotiating with Israel Fails; Still Have No Intention of Negotiating
Of course, you would not know that from the latest bit of cheerleading by AP’s Mohammed Daraghmeh, titled: “Palestinians Resigned to Defeat in UN Bid.” (n.b. Why does the tone of his article sound like the childhood chant of “That’s alright, that’s okay, we’re gonna beat you anyway”?).
As Mr. Daraghmeh reports, the Palestinians have resigned themselves to defeat in their bid to be recognized as a full state member of the UN, but have already “resorted to a backup plan”.
And what, pray tell, is that backup plan? Not negotiating with Israel, as required under UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338 or the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and the PLO.
No, instead, the PA’s backup plan is to:
…seek an upgraded observer status that would give them access to key international organizations.
In other words, they intend to continue in their drive to use “international organizations” — meaning UN organs and the International Criminal Court — to vilify and delegitimize Israel’s right to exist, with the aim of destroying Israel, rather than living side by side with it in peace.
Partners for peace, indeed.
